Otthonunk
We have a comfortable, two-story 1916 brick house with a large front porch, wood-burning fireplace, electric sauna and back deck facing a small but pretty back yard with a flower garden and tall Black Hills spruce.
We live on a quiet street across from parkland that is popular with runners, dog-walkers and families with children. It separates our street from West River Parkway and the Grand Rounds, a national scenic byway and also a bicycling, in-line skating and walking trail that leads to Minnehaha Park and the Chain of Lakes.
Our house is a classic Arts and Crafts bungalow with a sunny kitchen completely remodeled in 2010. There's a sunroom upstairs plus three bedrooms, one with a queen, one with a twin and one with a double futon sofa. There's also a double futon sofa in the family room downstairs and one on the front porch.
We have a canoe and four bikes available for our guests.

Környékünk
We live in the small Seward neighborhood. It's close to downtown and the University of Minnesota. The local weekly calls it the Best Hipster Neighborhood (we're not sure why). This year we also scored with Best Farm-to-Table Restaurant, Best Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant, Best Liquor Store and Best Natural-Foods Grocery.
Our house overlooks the Mississippi River gorge next to the Franklin Bridge (Mile 19 on the Twin Cities Marathon).
The eastern end of the Midtown Greenway bicycle trail is four blocks from our house. It's a 25-minute ride to Lake Calhoun, where you can swim, eat seafood and rent canoes or kayaks for paddling to Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake.
On the river trail, it's a 10-minute bike ride to Ted Mann Concert Hall, where the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra offers a Sunday-afternoon series. The free Weisman Art Museum is right across the bridge.
The Guthrie Theater and Mill City Museum are another 5 minutes by bike down the river. The Mill City Farmers Market is there on Saturdays.
The Franklin light-rail stop is a mile away. From there, it's 8 minutes to Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, 10 minutes to Target Field and 25 minutes to the Mall of America in Bloomington.
The international airport is 20 minutes by car and 15 minutes by light rail.

Rólunk
Beth is a former newspaper travel columnist who publishes MidwestWeekends.com, a guide to travel in the Upper Midwest, with her husband Torsten, a website developer.
We love the outdoors, especially bicycling and hiking around town and also in the state parks and wilderness areas around the region. Since 1993, Beth has written about travel in the Upper Midwest -- Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, northern Illinois, western Michigan and Ontario along Lake Superior -- so we know all the best places to go.
Our son Peter, a college student, is allergic to pet hair, so unfortunately, we can't have pets in the house. However, we wouldn't mind taking care of yours.
